Group Therapy.
Embodied: Body Image Process Group Therapy
If your relationship with your body feels complicated, tense, or shaped by years of self-judgment, you’re not alone. Many people move through the world feeling disconnected from their bodies or at odds with them—wanting to feel more at home, but unsure how to get there.
Embodied: Body Image Group Therapy is a 6-week therapy group for adults who want to develop a stronger, more compassionate, and more authentic presence in their bodies. This group is not about changing your body or learning how to manage it “better,” but about cultivating a felt sense of connection, safety, and self-trust from the inside out.
Through gentle psychoeducation, guided reflection, and embodied practices, participants are invited to slow down and notice how their relationship with their body has been shaped by relationships, culture, and lived experience. The group emphasizes curiosity, attunement, and honoring your own pace, offering space to experiment with new ways of being in your body that feel more grounded, kind, and true over time.
Participants can expect:
A trauma-informed, therapy-based group (not a skills class or workshop)
Psychoeducation on the internal and external factors that shape body image, including early relational experiences, cultural messaging, and stress or trauma
Mindfulness and embodiment practices that support reconnection with the body in safe and meaningful ways
Opportunities for reflection and shared process within a supportive group environment
Practical, sustainable strategies for cultivating embodied self-compassion and self-acceptance
A pace that honors individual readiness, boundaries, and capacity
Who Might Be a Good Fit
This group is for adults who experience ongoing distress related to body image, self-criticism, or shame, and who want to explore these experiences through a deeper therapeutic lens. It may be especially supportive for individuals who:
Feel disconnected from their bodies or struggle to feel at ease in their physical experience
Notice perfectionism, control, or chronic self-judgment related to appearance or worth
Have been impacted by diet culture, religious or moralized body narratives, or early relational experiences
Are curious about body-based and relational approaches to healing rather than quick fixes
Are open to gentle experiential practices and group reflection
This group can serve as a meaningful complement to individual therapy or as a supportive entry point into embodied therapeutic work.
